Kim Delaney is an American actress who is best known for playing detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received the Emmy Award. Her credits are All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. She was born as the only child to a senior executive of the United Auto Workers and a household worker, Delaney grew up with her four brothers. In her early years, she dreamt of being a court reporter. But after she graduated from high school and moving into New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. Her first role as an actor was as an innocent teenager in the 1981 soap opera All My Children. Delaney was a talented young actress in the 80s, has been featured in numerous TV shows and in dramas. She has not had a good or satisfying personal life. In the past, this gifted actress was struggling to overcome addiction to alcohol, and was married twice only to fail. In 2005, she was denied custody of the sole child she had.
